What is the purpose of Meta (MTA) and mStable (MUSD)?
Meta (MTA) and mStable (MUSD) are integral components of a decentralized, non-custodial stablecoin ecosystem. This ecosystem serves as a foundation for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and a collateral protocol for the DeFi space. mStable functions as a meta-asset platform, aiming to create assets that surpass the value of their individual components.
The Meta (MTA) token plays a crucial role within the mStable protocol, serving three primary functions. Firstly, it facilitates decentralized governance by coordinating decision-making processes. Secondly, it incentivizes the bootstrapping of mAsset liquidity. Lastly, it empowers and provides utility to the decentralized community of Governors.
Meta (MTA) governs the mStable system, allowing users to determine various system parameters. To actively participate in the governance process, users must stake MTA tokens and vote on proposals, effectively becoming a Meta Governor.

What Is Meta (MTA)?
Meta (MTA) and mStable (MUSD) are components of a decentralized stablecoin infrastructure that aims to provide a platform for decentralized finance (DeFi) and a collateral protocol for building DeFi applications. mStable is a meta-asset platform that aims to create assets that are greater than the sum of their parts.
The Meta (MTA) token is the protocol token of mStable and serves three functions: coordinating decentralized governance, incentivizing the bootstrapping of mAsset liquidity, and empowering a decentralized community of Governors.
As such, Meta governs mStable, and users determine each system parameter. To participate in governance, users must stake MTA and vote on proposals, becoming a Meta Governor.
Who Are the Founders of Meta?
mStable was co-founded by James Simpson and Henrik Andersson.
James Simpson is the CEO of mStable and previously worked as an investment analyst at Apollo Capital.
Henrik Andersson is the lead advisor at mStable and also serves as an advisor at Meld Gold and the CIO of Apollo Capital.
Simpson and Andersson met at Apollo Capital and, after working on various stablecoin and lending platform projects, they began working on combining lending, swapping, and saving into a single standard. Their goal was to eliminate friction points experienced by users of existing stablecoins, which eventually led to the creation of mStable.
What Makes Meta Unique?
mStable provides a stablecoin liquidity pool, which is a noncustodial smart contract that allows deposits of whitelisted stablecoins.
SWAP addresses liquidity issues across different stablecoins and assets, and the MUSD token can be redeemed for any underlying asset at a 1:1 ratio, regardless of its price. This ensures zero slippage and incorporates a straight-line bonding curve that generates significant swap volume from users arbitraging price differences.
SAVE tackles the yield issue by offering a high annual percentage yield (APY). Holding MUSD enables users to access the MUSD high savings rate, which combines interest gained from automatic lending to Save and Compound.
MINT facilitates the minting of MUSD, which is essential for achieving mStable's high APY. 14 million stablecoins have generated 40 million MUSD, which serves as collateral for the circulating supply.
EARN incentivizes users to contribute to MUSD liquidity in DeFi. Its objective is to enhance the utility and liquidity of MUSD by efficiently distributing MTA.
mStable increases liquidity by pooling participants from various asset markets, enhances safety by diversifying the risk of different pegging mechanisms, and reduces congestion by incentivizing liquidity into the system.
How Many Meta (MTA) Coins Are There in Circulation?
As of March 2021, Meta (MTA) has a circulating supply of 17,336,544 tokens and a maximum supply of 100,000,000 MTA.
How Is the Meta Network Secured?
mStable ensures network security through a multi-faceted approach. It employs a macro-level architecture with a robust governance decentralization plan and a micro-level architecture that emphasizes code formatting, documentation, testing procedures, and auditing.
Additionally, mStable maintains an open reward pool for the discovery and reporting of vulnerabilities found within the protocol.
