Over time, it has evolved into a tipping service on Twitch and Twitter, using a centrally managed platform. Trollcoin also serves as an experiment in negative brand marketing, showcasing how a cryptocurrency with a trolling theme can gain popularity. The blockchain of Trollcoin utilizes a hybrid of Proof of Work (Scrypt) and Proof of Stake, and it is managed by Karl Wickman from Los Angeles. Wickman took control of the project in May 2014, and the community supporting Trollcoin consists mainly of anonymous volunteers worldwide. The Trollcoinbot services platform is developed and managed by Colt Fortenberry.
