What is Virtue Poker?
Conceived in 2016, Virtue Poker is a ConsenSys incubated and Pantera backed company that utilizes blockchain technology and P2P networking to create a secure and fair online poker environment. Instead of holding player funds, Virtue Poker uses Ethereum "smart contracts" to hold game buy-ins in escrow while players participate, with payouts occurring in 30 seconds or less. Virtue Poker is the first and only blockchain-based poker platform licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority.
Why choose Virtue Poker?
Virtue Poker offers trustless and transparent payments through the use of Ethereum smart contracts and a Virtue Poker deployed sidechain, ensuring the security of player funds. The platform also guarantees game integrity through its peer-to-peer shuffling protocol, which includes all players seated at a table in the shuffling process. Additionally, Virtue Poker allows for multi-token wagering, enabling the deployment of new ERC-20 tokens for wagering purposes. The platform has a high regulatory barrier to entry and is the only licensed blockchain-based P2P poker platform authorized by the Malta Gaming Authority. With an established and growing player base, Virtue Poker has seen 10k downloads, 5k registered users, and over 5 million hands played in Open Beta. The platform also boasts exclusive professional partnerships, including renowned poker players Phil Ivey, Dan Colman, and Brian Rast as Virtue Poker Team Pros.
Token utility
Virtue Player Points (VPP) are the native tokens used exclusively within the Virtue Poker platform. VPPs serve three main purposes within the network. They can be staked in a smart contract called the Justice Registry, allowing users to validate hands on the network in exchange for up to 50% of platform fees. VPPs can also be used to access special tournaments, promotions, and as a wagering currency. Furthermore, VPP holders have the ability to vote on new marketing proposals and updates to the system, including the eventual deployment of the VPP treasury after 2023.
Backers
Virtue Poker was one of the first projects incubated within ConsenSys shortly after the launch of Ethereum. It is one of the oldest projects in the blockchain tech space that is still active. The main backers of Virtue Poker include Pantera, Fenbushi, DFG Group, the founder of Matic/Polygon, and Jez San from FunFair.
Key Team Members
Phil Ivey, a renowned professional poker player with 10 World Series of Poker bracelets and over $26 million in live earnings, is part of the Virtue Poker Team Pro. Joseph Lubin, one of the founders of Ethereum and the CEO of ConsenSys, serves as a technical advisor to Virtue Poker.
