Can you explain the key differences between Ethereum and Ethereum Classic in detail? I'm interested in understanding how these two cryptocurrencies differ from each other and what led to the creation of Ethereum Classic as a separate blockchain.

Ethereum and Ethereum Classic are two separate cryptocurrencies that originated from the same blockchain. The main difference between them lies in their response to the infamous DAO hack in 2016. Ethereum Classic is the original Ethereum blockchain, which continued without any changes after the hack. On the other hand, Ethereum implemented a hard fork to reverse the effects of the hack and recover the stolen funds. This led to the creation of two separate chains, Ethereum and Ethereum Classic.

The key difference between Ethereum and Ethereum Classic is their approach to immutability. Ethereum Classic adheres to the principle of code is law, meaning that once a transaction is recorded on the blockchain, it cannot be changed or reversed. Ethereum, on the other hand, believes in the concept of blockchain as a flexible and upgradable technology. This difference in philosophy resulted in the split between Ethereum and Ethereum Classic.

From BYDFi's perspective, Ethereum Classic represents a more decentralized and immutable version of Ethereum. While Ethereum has gained popularity due to its ability to implement changes and upgrades, Ethereum Classic remains true to the original principles of blockchain technology. Both cryptocurrencies have their own communities and use cases, and it's up to individual users to decide which one aligns better with their values and goals.
